A few different hermits are getting to the stage in their series where they're building super smelters. Dried kelp is a really popular fuel, mostly because automatic kelp farms are pretty easy to make, although they cause significant lag when harvesting and still require the hermits to manually craft the dried kelp blocks.
WhatsApp: +86 182036953771 4 yr. ago Depends on your exact use case. Remember that kelp blocks need to be crafted, while coal can technically be farmed directly in a fortress farm. But if you're using kelp anyway, just use the kelp blocks to dry the kelp as well. r/Minecraft Join • 8 days ago How can I make my factory chicken farm more inhumane? 648 r/Minecraft Join

Using water streams, only one hopper is needed. You use kelp to smelt kelp, no coal is needed. 9 [deleted] • 5 yr. ago Charcoal is also self sustaining. 2 Robertcharlespdx • 5 yr. ago

WhatsApp: +86 18203695377I didn't add kelp blocks but even if I did I'd just use coal as I mine it by the thousands every time I play, even mining enough in one day to cook a year's worth of food without using Fortune (I average around 2,200 coal ore per session while I cooked around 17,000 baked potatoes last year); the fact that it smelts a nonfactor of 64 items (1, 2, 4, 8, etc) is also a disadvantage as you ...

WhatsApp: +86 18203695377Now if you invest 2 coal and start smelting kelp. you will always gain a net profit of burn time, just keep crafting the dried kelp into blocks and use it as a fuel source. WhatsApp: +86 18203695377Coal and Charcoal. Since Block of Coal is stackable, that makes it a little better than Lava Bucket, because as Celta's answer states that Lava Bucket can cook 100 meat, Block of Coal doing 80. A stack of Block of Coal would be 80x64, doing simple math would tell you that (80x64) is bigger than 100. I hope this helped.
